If you’re currently using USPS via Pitney Bowes in Ordoro, you’ll soon have access to our new USPS Ship integration. This direct connection to the USPS offers several improvements, including lower credit card fees and a more flexible shipping experience.
In this article, we’ll walk you through the key differences between the two integrations, so you know what to expect when making the switch.

Why switch?
USPS has informed us that the Pitney Bowes integration will be retired in the coming months. We’ll give you plenty of notice before we remove it from your account, but we recommend switching to USPS Ship soon to take advantage of the savings and new features.
If you’re ready to get started, reach out to our Support team. We’re happy to schedule a setup call or help via email to walk you through the process.
Lower fees and simpler billing
With USPS Ship, there are no credit card processing fees for postage.
Ordoro’s Pitney Bowes USPS accounts incur a credit card fee when adding postage. USPS Ship labels will avoid these fees.
Billing through USPS Ship is straightforward with daily pay-per-label billing, vs Ordoro’s pre-purchase postage. Your USPS Business account will charge you the amount you owe for the labels you at the end of every day.
Your USPS Business account will also offer free ACH wire transfers if you’d like to purchase labels using a bank account instead of via credit card.
More control with a direct USPS Business account
USPS Ship connects directly to your own USPS Business account. That means:
- You maintain ownership of your postage account
- You can manage your account settings and billing preferences directly with USPS
- Your address and contact details are fully under your control
If you don’t already have a USPS Business account, we’ll guide you through setting one up. It only takes a few minutes. If you currently have a USPS Business account, you can connect that to Ordoro for your USPS shipping with USPS Ship.
APV adjustments
With USPS Ship, Automated Package Verification (APV) adjustments are handled directly in your USPS Business account. This gives you more visibility and control over adjustments for underpaid or overpaid postage.
- You can view and download adjustment reports (called Census Verification Reports) through your USPS Business account.
- Charges and refunds from APVs are applied directly to the payment method on file (ACH or card).
- You can dispute an adjustment right from the USPS Business Gateway.
- USPS won’t notify you directly when an APV adjustment is applied, but you’ll be able to find your APV adjustments directly in the USPS Business Gateway.

Label and SCAN form changes
If you forget to generate a Scan form, you’re in luck. USPS Ship will automatically manifest all labels at the end of the day. This means that your shipments will still be processed correctly, even if something slips through the cracks.
Keep in mind:
- Once a SCAN form is generated, you won’t be able to void the associated labels for 15 minutes.
Package type updates
Some USPS package types are labeled differently in USPS Ship. A few types available with Pitney Bowes, such as “Large Envelope,” don’t have a direct equivalent.
USPS Ship still supports a wide range of options, including:
- Packages
- Flat Rate boxes
- Softpacks
- Letters
Please let us know if you’re unsure which package type to use. We’re happy to help!
Easier USPS Label Disputing
When you need to dispute an issue with a label with USPS, you’ll now have direct access to your USPS Buisness gateway to file disputes and refunds from USPS.
International shipping differences
International labels work a bit differently in USPS Ship:
- Some customs fields have changed
- For example, the IOSS number can be added to a general tax field
- There’s no separate field for the tax country
We’re working closely with USPS to improve these fields and streamline the process.
