The shipping process can be complicated, especially since each carrier, like FedEx, UPS, and USPS, has rules regarding shipping methods, box types, and more. This article outlines some key USPS constraints that Ordoro users should know, including shipping classes, options, and parcel size limits.

USPS Domestic Shipping

When shipping domestically with USPS, there are a few common reasons you may not be able to print a shipping label:

  • No weight added: All shipments require a weight. Without a weight, you won’t be able to generate a label.
  • Invalid address: If the USPS doesn’t recognize the address, you won’t be able to create a label. You can use the USPS address verification tool to check if an address is valid.

USPS International Shipping

For international shipments, there are additional rules you need to follow. You won’t be able to print shipping labels if:

  • Customs declaration form is incomplete: Each item in your shipment must have a customs declaration, including the Value per Unit for each line item.
  • Customs form weight mismatch: The total weight of the products on the customs form must match the weight of the parcel or package.
  • Delivery Confirmation option is selected: Delivery confirmation is unavailable for some international shipments.
  • Missing Contents Type or Reason for Export:
    • For USPS via Endicia, you must provide a Contents Type (e.g., Merchandise, Gift, etc.).
    • For USPS via Pitney Bowes, you must provide a Reason for Export (e.g., Sale, Return, etc.).
