When generating an RMA, by default Ordoro will not automatically carry over the same shipping configuration used from the original outgoing shipment. However, we can enable this setting on the backend if it suits your workflow. This article explains how to enable the feature, some potential use cases, and what types of information will carry over when the setting is enabled.

How do I enable this feature?
By default, we keep this setting off until requested because most Ordoro users do not want it. Here are some reasons why:
- What if only some of the order contents are being returned?
- And what if a different parcel size is being used?
- What if the original outgoing order was shipped with an expedited service, but to save money you’d like to return with basic Ground/Economy service?
In a nutshell, if the shipping parameters were carried over automatically you may end up creating a shipping label for the wrong service.

What are some use cases?
- If you process mostly single-line item orders or your returns commonly require returning the entire order, it may help to have the configuration copied over.
- If you ship FedEx or UPS multi-box shipments and need to return all or some of the parcels.
- This is especially helpful because you cannot easily see what box sizes were used on the original order.
- Note: you may have to manually remove boxes if the entire order is not being returned.
What will copy over from the outgoing order to the RMA?
Note: In order to use and view the carried-over shipping configuration, you will need to select the carrier used for the original order first.
Once the carrier is selected, most fields will carrier over. It is strongly recommended that you review the configuration before creating the label to make any necessary changes. The list below is not complete and will vary depending on the carrier.
- Package Type
- Weight
- Dimensions
- Use Alternate Return Address
- Notify Bill/Ship To
- Attach Customs Info
- Certificate of Origin
- Packaging Weight
- Etc.
These selections/fields will not copy over:
- Residential Address
- Dynamic fields like:
- Ship Date
- Invoice Number
- Reference Number
- Etc.
