Yes. When Ordoro imports orders from your shopping cart or marketplace, it automatically checks the ship-to address in the background. You don’t have to turn anything on or run a separate step.

Address validation helps you catch problems before you buy a label, reducing delivery issues, returned packages, and address-correction fees.

How address validation works in Ordoro

  1. When an order is imported, Ordoro automatically validates the destination address.
  2. If Ordoro detects a potential issue, the order is flagged so you can review it before shipping.

Address warning vs. address error

Ordoro uses two validation categories, each with its own color and icon.

  1. Address Warning (Yellow with Warning Icon):
    • A warning means the address is probably usable, but it may be missing details or could be more specific.
    • Common examples:
      • Missing apartment or unit number
      • A street address that could be formatted more precisely.
    • You can still choose to ship, but you’re accepting the risk of delivery problems or extra carrier fees.
    • Note: Ordoro uses USPS-based validation, so non-U.S. addresses often trigger warnings because they don’t match USPS address standards.

  1. Address Error (Red with Error Icon):
    • An error means USPS does not recognize the address.
    • This usually happens when something critical is missing or mapped incorrectly, such as:
      • Missing zip code, state, or country code
      • Address fields are swapped (e.g. a zip code is entered in the state field)
    • You may still be able to attempt label creation, but it isn’t guaranteed, and delivery is less likely to succeed without correcting the address.

How to review and correct an address

If you want to quickly find affected orders, use the Orders filter for address warnings and invalid addresses. (See the related support article on Orders filters for step-by-step instructions.)

There is a filter to find orders with either a warning or an invalid address. This support article has details on how to filter.

To correct an address on an order:

  1. Open the order.
  2. In the Ship To section, click Edit under the address.
  3. Review the details in the modal. Ordoro will show what triggered the warning or error.
  4. Update the address fields and save your changes.

Tip: If the order came from a connected store or marketplace, you may also want to fix the address at the source so future orders import correctly.

How to bypass validation for USPS Ship

In some cases, you may still want to create a label even if the address is flagged.

When shipping with USPS Ship, you can bypass address validation during label creation:

  1. In the Shipping label panel, go to Additional Carrier Options and select View/Edit.

  1. In the modal, select Ignore Invalid Address.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Try creating the label again.

Important: If you bypass validation, USPS may still be unable to deliver the package, even if the label is created successfully.
